In continuing my overview of Susan Berkley’s teleseminar, “The New Game of Voiceover”, she discussed:
The 3 Laws of Voiceover
To increase your odds on booking the job…
1) When responding to an online audition, you must be quick. Use a USB mic or mp3 recorder while travelling so you can submit quickly.
2) Send clean audio, free of diction or speech regionalisms, background, and mouth noise
3) Focus on the clients and the message, not the sound of your voice (I often call this, “getting out of your own way”) Don’t sound phony, like a stereotypical announcer. Sell the product. The product is key.
If you don’t know how to pronounce a word, go to an online dictionary that features an audio sound out, like the Merriam Webster , or American Heritage Dictionary.
