More from the Masters Class

by | Training

During the lecture portion of our day, while discussing long form narration, Pat Fraley presented an interview with Phil Crowley, a true master of  the genre.  Certainly those who watch the History Channel  or A&E have heard Phil’s work.  Hear the interview in this post for more “pearls” from the Masters. My thanks to Pat Fraley for sending this to me today.

The day moved quickly. The class was 9 hours.

We  spent quite a bit of time doing text analysis, and how to discover the author’s intent. In so doing, we learn better self-direction, and feelings of honesty, which will come through our reading.

And it is when we are not merely reading, we are acting. Use truth as a tool, and emotional recall, but don’t approach the copy from a personal point of view.

Our job is to connect with the listener, and leave an imprint.  Always keep in mind the listener wants to know what the benefit will be to him/her. In order to leave an imprint, we must have the right words and attitude in order to become outstanding.

To quote the amazing con this process:

“It’s the difference between the guy who talks with his hand behind his ear, or the guy who has his hand on his heart”
