As I sit here in my pajamas (they’re silk, so they don’t make noise in the mic) writing my blog after a TV Commercial, and some IVRs completed for the day……
One of the voiceover online communities I hang out with recently shared a link to one of the funniest stories I’ve read in a long time.
It was published in the LA Times, and titled, “If They Mention Voice-Over Work, It’s Just All Talk”. The April 29, 2007 article is by Freelance Writer Howard Leff, who hopes to get some of his own voice over work.
If you’re a newcomer to this business, this article is a must read. If you’re a seasoned pro, I am certain you’ll find this little “snapshot” of our work thoroughly entertaining, and insightful, especially if you’ve ever pursued an LA Voice career.
Enjoy the article and leave a comment if you’d like.
And by the way, the silk pajamas reference is a joke. Mine are cotton.
Funny! Yeah, I hear that on a somewhat regular basis from people at work. That, or “You should be a stand-up comedian!” All I can think of is appearing like a real-life example of a Christopher Guest character….
