Happy 400 Simpsons!

by | Animation

Tonight marks the 400th episode of “The Simpsons”. It’s been an amazing 18 years.
Whoo Hoo! The Streak Continues!

Congrats to all the folks who have contributed to the longest running TV animation episodic in history. That’s 18 years, my friends! As a fantasy of all TV shows he watched growing up a a kid,(including Leavie it to Beaver, Andy Griffith, etc.)  Matt Groening had no high expectations to lean on when he moved to LA in 1977, just a desire to create.

“The Simpson’s” is the first animated TV show that makes agressive use of pop culture with reference to the real-time world we live in. thus delivering a hip 18-49 demographic audience.

The Simpson’s is the longest in TV history for a sitcom or animated program. And it is a huge franchise, including a forthcoming movie this summer.

Quoting Nancy Cartwright, (Voice of Bart Simpson  (from 1987) appearing in (Daily Variety May 17, 2007)  “I come into this rinky-dink production that’s not even a show, and I thought…this is El Cheapo Productions…These prople have no idea what they are doing”, then sobering, she adds, “But I kept my mouth shut. I’m very glad about that.”

400 episodes and 18 years. Now that is what you must call a “Home run”.

I want to be Nancy Cartwright.
