The nightmare began for me and my family early yesterday morning when our next door neighbor pounded on our door with the news. Fire was close by, stay alert and turn on the news.
A Fire that began the night before near Ramona, about 18 miles away had spread and merged with another fire was quickly encroaching, fueled by strong easterly hot dry winds called Santa Anas.
We decided to pack up and wait a bit, while glued to the TV.
Then at 8:15 AM the reverse 911 call notification came, with mandatory evacation orders. Homes have burned only a mile or so away from mine.
We went to a friend’s home in Oceanside, about 20 miles away. I have my laptop and a USB mic. Far from business as usual.
The GREAT news is, so far is, we can still call our answering machine at home and it still picks up. This is the only way we have of knowing out home still stands. More later as I am able.

Bobbin:
I’ve no idea of the stress you’re under but I have high hopes for a safe outcome for your family. If you need any help…I’m a phone call away.
Best always,
– Peter
Peter,
Thank you so much for your kind words. It is very difficult to breathe, even inside. There is so much uncertainty right now. All I can say is , ” I think so, I hope so, and I don’t know” how any of this nightmare is going to turn out for my home.
500,000 have been evacuated, and counting. Over 1000 homes are gone. The firefighters are nothing less than amazing. The winds are brutal.
Still hoping and praying.
Bobbin
Bobbin,
