Don’t let the 2003 date that this piece was written fool you. The concept behind all the stories is quite relevant five years hence.
Laradio.com’s Don Barrett has written this fantastic article on LA radio people who made the transition from broadcast announcers to successful voice actors.
I am fortunate to say I know, have studied with, or have worked with several individuals mentioned here, which “brought it all closer to home ” for me.
Many voice talent (like myself) started in radio. Changing gears and becoming a voice actor for some is a stretch. Many don’t even realize voice acting is indeed quite different from being a radio or TV announcer.
For anyone, (especially from a broadcast background) who is seriously passionate about voice over, I’d say this is a must-read.
