It’s Sunday June 15th. Happy Father’s day. Well I lived through the California wildfires in October 2007, and am now witness to the 500 year Midwestern Floods. I have been so busy saving my home here I haven’t had time to blog, social network, etc. This is a happy day for me because the water is apparently receding in my basement and I successfully re-lighted my hot water heater for the second time. It keeps flooding in the basement and it shuts off. More later, but I wrote the following in my journal on Thursday evening:
I am in Southeast Wisconsin getting our lake home ready for summer rental and its been flooding everywhere here and we under a tornado watch until 2AM. I arrived and had 2″ of water in the basement, had to get a wet-dry vacuum to remove the water…then the water heater shut down, (no hot water early on but I fixed it)I have 2 roof leaks, and my shower drain is completely stopped up. Just a bit of an overwhelming situation. I’ve been dealing with it alone here, all by contacting various plumbing and roofing contractors, and several trips to Home Depot, etc. I wasn’t thinking I’d be dealing with all this…and have no control over this insane weather.
I am distracted by the water damage issues here. I am supposed to be taking care of this property and getting it ready for a guest who will rent for the remainder of summer, plus I will have family arriving Tuesday and then we take off for a huge reunion we’re driving to Ohio to attend next weekend.
We’re supposed to dry out for several days after this. I hope so!
I’m so sorry to hear about your trials, Bobbin. I hope you get it fixed as soon and as painlessly as you can and that you can concentrate on a fabulous reunion in Ohio.
James
Best of luck getting through this obvious trying time Bobbin. The footage I’ve seen of the flooding on the news has been shocking and I wish you and everyone else affected the best.
