I am finally starting to catch up on my diary of the event. I was just way too exhausted until now to continue.
What a way to start a Sunday. Laughing ’til it hurts! Marc Cashman delivered the goods on Sunday morning. I must say at this was one of the highpoints for me personally as the laughter really helped relieve some of the tension and shake off the previous day’s intensive marathon which was jammed with responsibilities. I was finally relaxing!
Marc had the whole auditorium going and going with relentless, true silly anecdotes on scripts. You know, those sometimes absolutely ridiculous specs for real auditions and recording sessions?
Like:
- sound like a pair of keds
- only send voice over actors who weigh over 220 lbs.
- should sound handsome
- Please don’t submit guys who sound fat
- “Cheesy reads will be prosecuted”
- That was too Cabernet…Try to sound a little more Beaujolais…
- Why don’t you read it the way I wrote it???
There were a lot of laughs over funny misspellings and scripts that were clearly unreadable.
Marc also played “The Bible Sessions” for us- a little journey into voiceover hell. Hysterical!
The picture below is of various voice coaches performing a little radio drama: James, Penny, Powers, Deb Munroe, Karly Rothenberg, Bev Bremers, Chris Allport and MJ Lallo.
Sunday was Bunny slippers day- Some very creative slippers, indeed.
I also split my time between Joyce Castellanos Promos and Trailers session and Bob Bergen’s session in the afternoon. I’ll cover those in my next post, along with more photos of the day’s activities. But before I go, I want to post this photo of me with my pal Amy Snively who was helping out Marc Cashman at his exhibit booth.
