My voiceover friend, Stu Gray has posted a comprehensive story on the buzz around social networking and how he’s adopted it all into his voiceover business. There are some handy hints on how to manage it all, too. Having the time and energy to keep it all straight…well, that can be discussed another time. Enjoy.

My hat’s off to anyone who can do this and still have the time and energy for a voice-over business.
Hi Fred,
Agreed. Some of this so-called “networking” can be misdirected, and time-consuming. Like do we really need to know what somebody is eating for breakfast. TMI! lol!
Many times I am so busy working in the booth all day, I can’t handle any more “screen-time”, and need to get away from the computer and spend time with my family!
However, if efforts are concentrated in areas where networking with those who will help you progress in your career, that’s where it will be most beneficial. Balance is key.
Best,
Bobbin
Hi Bobbin –
Thanks for the mention. In response to Fred and your comments…I totally agree, it can be time consuming., and some updates can be ‘TMI’.
I try to include in my updates Value for my “network” 1st…but also be real…(while leaving out the Quaker Oatmeal from this morning!)
There are days when nothing gets posted or updated because I am busy with VO work. These are great days!!! 😉
Being a “geeky gadget tech” guy has lent to being excited and willing to try out many different tricks and tools of Social Networking that others would never want to explore.
I believe VO’s need to pick and choose what works for them – like you mentioned – Its all about Balance!!
Talk to you soon!
