More Remodeling

by | General

Well, I surely haven’t been lazy. Actually just the opposite. We’re in the throes of remodeling, a lot of rooms here and we’re almost done. None of this has much to do with voiceover, except that I’ve had to schedule recording during quiet times, when the flooring guy installing the laminate in the living room and the hardwood planks in the hall isn’t sawing. Or the painters, the carpet installers, or the tile guy, removing the old tile and saw-cutting  new pieces.

And then there was furniture to be moved. We’ve been working on the house pretty much well into the late evenings several nights in a row. Plenty of trips to the Home Depot, too. Frankly, I’ve been tired , sore and otherwise occupied! But we’re almost done! It will be so worth it. And maybe I’ll no longer be awakened in the middle of the night with a “charleyhorse” in my right calf. Yes, at times I feel every muscle and bone in my body.

Tomorrow the window installers arrive to “hang” here for a couple more days. So I hit the booth today, Sunday ,to record a new series of commercials for Barnes Jewish Hospital (St. Louis) and a narration on… (cue the drumroll please)…laminate flooring!

Of course there were auditions, voice jobs, a new talent agent in New York  invited me to join the stable (yay), and I received a couple of airchecks from some folks during my Milwaukee radio days, (WQFM, WLPX) and I dug up one from KGB-FM San Diego. What a journey back in time to a place I no longer am. I’m going to post them soon and discuss this “old place” of radio.

We’re waiting for the paint in the bathroom to dry so we can move the new vanity and sink.

Have a wonderful week!
