This is very cool! Don La Fontaine comments and offers insight into making impacting voiceovers recently “found” about a month prior to his passing last year. Here’s the info: “Though he was never known as the voice heard on commercials, nor animation, Don LaFontaine will forever be known as the King of Voiceovers. Movie Trailers! And I mean thousands of them is where we heard is rumble in jungle, and if you didn’t know who DLF, well, you just didn’t know what a voiceover was. To many, DLF was the V.O.G., but he never liked being compared to GOD, and he’d laugh it off and tell you in a Minnesota minute. Because Don was so loving, caring, charismatic and would always help the next “man,” people couldn’t help but to think he was “heaven sent.” While sifting through Voiceover Universe, I’ve un-earthed some extremely helpful comments Don Left on one particular page. GAURAV MARWAHA is a voice actor from New Delhi, India, and maybe because he wasn’t an American he had the “cojones” to ask Don every question he could right before Don left us.”
I believe you’ll need to be a member of VU to read this. It’s free and will be so worth it! :
A bit of Don’s legacy humbles me.
