Darren Hardy, publisher of Success Magazine and author of The Compound Effect says, “To be great, be grateful”.
Darren’s come up with a Thanksgiving challenge. He suggests:
“My challenge to you is to think of an area of your life you are
having difficulty in and want to improve. For the next 21 days, take
three minutes at the end of the day and write down what about that
problematic situation you appreciate, what’s good and what you’re
grateful for. This could be a confrontational co-worker at the office,
your job as a whole or your troubled marriage… anything or anyone that
frustrates or negatively affects you.
I promise you, when you change how you look at a situation, the situation changes.”
DAY 7
Yikes! What a day. To say it was busy is an understatement. I awakened at about 5AM, drank my coffee, read the paper, took my morning hike, showered, dressed, picked up a potted plant for a studio client who booked me for four spots on a major TV and radio campaign which recorded this morning at the off-site studio. The spots will air in Southern California for the next 3 weeks. That pretty well took care of the morning.
Upon returning to my little studio there were a slew of auditions and scripts for jobs in my email. After taking care of that little bit of housekeeping, I went to the bank and stopped off to pick up some holiday cards. By that time, I needed to finalize my end of month billing and then time for a dinner break. I am working well into the evening, trying to get to see the top of my desk!
I’ve written about time management challenges before, but I am thankful I have them. They keep me always striving to boost my productivity level and focus.
Now I’m planning tomorrow: An off-site on-camera audition, and several voiceover bookings. And I MUST get my client gifts and holiday cards ready to go. Time’s a wastin’
The busier I am, the busier I get!
