Thanksgiving Challenge Day #9

by | Personal

Darren Hardy, publisher of Success Magazine  and author of The Compound Effect says, “To be great, be grateful”.

Darren’s come up with a Thanksgiving challenge. He suggests:

“My challenge to you is to think of an area of your life you are
having difficulty in and want to improve. For the next 21 days, take
three minutes at the end of the day and write down what about that
problematic situation you appreciate, what’s good and what you’re
grateful for. This could be a confrontational co-worker at the office,
your job as a whole or your troubled marriage… anything or anyone that
frustrates or negatively affects you.

I promise you, when you change how you look at a situation, the situation changes.”

DAY 9

Today has been a mixed bag, but mostly a day of dealing with situational issues and challenges which have nothing to do with my life and work as a voiceover performer. (Thank goodness!)

The challenges had to deal with lending a supportive  ear for a close friend’s divorce issues, anothers’  health  problems, a potentially very expensive car repair to my VW, and a landlord- tenant conference with a tenant who broke their lease with us..

All items were important,  time-consuming and distracting, yet I was thankful to address all of them and still service my clients jobs and perform a number of promising auditions today.

Not that all those other things were resolved in their entirety in a single day. But they were addressed.

I am thankful that I am professional enough to leave the distractions outside of the booth when the mic is ON! As a matter of fact, being in the booth is therapeutic for me! For all of this I am grateful.

  1. Bobbin,
I love reading your daily Challenge reports, and am always nodding “Yes!” We’re not alone in facing all this – and being thankful for it all is indeed therapeutic.

  2. Hi John!
I so appreciate your affirmation today. I don’t think being in the booth is exactly an escape, but it is a good way to separate our personal lives from our professional ones. By doing so successfully, I can view all that life offers with a bit more objectivity.
    All The Best,
    Bobbin
