The
tradition of the New Year’s Resolutions goes all the way back to 153
B.C. Janus, a mythical king of early Rome was placed at the head of the
calendar. With two faces, Janus could look back on past events and
forward to the future. Janus became the ancient symbol for resolutions
and many Romans looked for forgiveness from their enemies and also
exchanged gifts before the beginning of each year.
Make REALISTIC, DOABLE, and SHORT TERM resolutions!
If you’re trying to pay down your credit cards, get a new job, find a
mate, or shed some excess poundage, simply writing down New Year’s
resolutions won’t get you off the hook.
But by setting more
realistic goals for yourself and not limiting yourself to a once-a-year,
do-or-die, all-out assault on that growing debt, those flabby thighs, or
the hideous wallpaper you keep meaning to replace, you may find that the
finish line isn’t so far away after all.
