Ahhhh vacation. And I’ve been loving it. Here I am, at the Pretty Lake house in Wisconsin, pretty much doing other things than working in my studio as I normally do back in Caliifornia.
I’ve actually stayed in touch as needed while allowing myself to let go of the digital technology that binds us. Being the non-conformist that I am, I’ve stayed totally away from Facebook, Google+, and Twitter. And I’m happily being productive and working on my competitive advantage in other ways. Like resting, and having face to face conversations with friends and family.
I’ve taken time to notice the abounding wildlife and nature’s glory in: butterflies, frogs, turtles, Sandhill Cranes, a host of birds and even meditated while floating on the lake in an inner tube. Last night I sat at the lake with my best friend watching the moonlight shimmer on the water like diamonds, while we solved all earthly concerns.
As far as work I’ve managed to voice a few commercials in my closet set up here, but not auditioning. I am doing some summer reading, too. I’m prepping for an audiobook job, and breaking down the characters and the story while enjoying a relaxing read of the manuscript at the same time.
We had a family bbq Sunday. My brother in law is a talented artist and doodled this beautiful vase of flowers
Took the canoe out this evening and here’s the smooth like glass lake.
How fitting to read this blog post today by Darren Hardy about the concept of REST- as a competitive Advantage.
Taking a break is necessary, so I urge all you workaholics like me to jump off the grid a while, to improve your personal productivity.
Enjoy!
