Was it really inspired by today’s young female pop starts or was it Terri Apple back in the late 80’s?

Is it  vocal vulgarity? Will the “Vocal Fry“become apparent in voiceover?

Will it wreck my vocal folds if I succumb?  Will I sound good or goofy?
