Book/ Product Review: Voiceover Legal
Author: Rob Sciglimpaglia

The
first e-book published by John Florian at VoiceoverXtra is a go-to
resource book for every voice actor’s back office. I know I’ll keep it
around to reference various situations that may inevitably arise
throughout my voiceover career.  And it’s written by Rob Sciglimpaglia,
the
VO /attorney guy who’s quickly become the industry’s specialist in
legal and business issues we all face at one time or another.

“Voiceover
Legal”  is comprehensive, and well-thought out as it covers just about
every angle and aspect of the entertainment industry. And the book is
voice-over specific, which I personally found highly useful.

Business
structure, liability, contracts,  intellectual property issues, unions
and voiceover-related organizations, the ever popular topic of agents
and managers, business insurance and tax tips and record keeping are
addressed in fine detail, leaving no stone unturned.

Yes, we are
artists, and consumed sometimes so much with our craft that we forget
the practical details that are the components of our business engine.

This
book would be a wise investment to every voice actor to have in their
tool kit.  I guarantee anyone serious about their voiceover business
will refer to it time and again.
I highly recommend it!

  3. Does AFTRA have a contract for a narrator’s work for audio books?
Is there a source to find a general fee schedule for such work?
